Raised in a home where rock was part of everyday life, Axel developed a deep passion from an early age for bands like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Queen, and Rainbow.
That music, listened to alongside his father, became the soundtrack of his childhood and left an indelible mark on him.
At seventeen, he joined his first band as a singer. Without any academic training, he possessed a natural sense of pitch and an instinctive expressive power.
He received his first keyboard, a Casio CTK-900, as a gift and began exploring music theory, chords, and harmonies on his own.
Soon after, he decided to study seriously, taking vocal lessons with Roberto Tiranti at the Accademy of Modern Music in Milan.
A forced break followed, during which work pulled him away from music. But the emptiness he felt inside was too strong, Axel realized that the only possible path was to return to playing.
He was reborn with Athon, a band formed with his friends Ame, Caste, and Giona, where he took up the electric bass.
With them, he discovered new and heavier sounds, inspired by bands like Mastodon, Baroness, and Sleep, sonic worlds that opened up a more visceral and profound dimension for him.
During those same years, he began writing what would become his first major solo project: Beyond What You Can See, a concept album already completed but not yet released.
In 2021, he left Athon to found Reel together with his brother Matthew, dedicating himself fully to his musical vision.
After consulting with a producer, he chose not to simplify his art but to push it further.
This creative decision led to the birth of Mr. Hyde, The Call to Ammit, and later Even Flow — songs that shaped the first part of the introspective concept album In Each of Us, released in 2024.
While recording the first part, Axel was already composing the second, aiming to complete the work.
From this process came X, Worms, and Seven songs that marked both musical and personal growth.
The circle closed with Mad Hatter, a song started in 2017 and completed in 2024 after seven years of experimentation, maturation, and change.
When he finished it, Axel realized he had finally reached the full form of his own musical language.
For Axel, music is not born from an idea, but from a sound.
Each melody brings to him a clear image, a precise emotion.
It’s like a reverse soundtrack: first comes the sound, then the scene, and only afterward the words that complete the picture.
For Axel, a song is finished only when its music can fully express what he feels inside.
Alongside music, Axel also nurtures a deep passion for cinema, which led him to personally direct and write the scripts for Reel’s music videos.
Today, in addition to his work with the band, Axel is writing a novel inspired by the concept of Beyond What You Can See, a project that expands his artistic universe, uniting music, words, and images into a single creative vision.
